I don’t lift refrigerators with my teeth. You may find that in some of the wonderful Cirq du Soleil shows, but I can’t do it. Instead, I do a reality show for boomers (the reality for boomers is that we want entertainment that makes us feel something). We’re the largest demo, and we have tons of disposable income; yet when it comes to entertainment, most boomers will tell you there isn’t much designed especially for us.

Forever Love was created by and for boomers to fill that void. The first performance was recorded live to be a pledge show for PBS stations. It will tour wherever they air it — because the more they air it, the more concert tickets they will need for their contributors.

I’m unknown, but the songs in the show are really familiar — the music you’ll remember from the time you first fell in love. If you’d like to be reminded of that time again, you’d be a great audience, and I’d love to meet you. But first, your Public TV station needs to be convinced that you’ll support Forever Love even though you’ve never heard of Chip Weinman.

That’s why I need your help. Please look at the excerpts from the show, and if you like what you see, call your local Public TV station and tell them to air Forever Love so I can come perform for you.

Chip raises money for gulf wildlife rescue efforts

Chip Weinman is a 62-year-old lobbyist and cancer survivor who has dreamed of being a professional pop crooner for more than 40 years. Though Weinman has sung the national anthem at Orioles games, he has never released an album or has performed for a concert audience. Please stay tuned for more information.

That will change Saturday, when Weinman headlines at the Hippodrome Theatre with a 47-piece orchestra, six backup singers and guest star Sheena Easton. The show, “Under the Covers … Timeless Love Songs,” a benefit for the University of Maryland Medical System, will also be filmed for a PBS special. It’s the debut of a lifetime – one that Weinman hopes will help him launch a career as a singer.
